Layers of Comfort

Entering a Clark Jungle HammockŪ, you are surrounded by layers. Every model comes with zippered mosquito netting which can be unzipped on one or both sides. The netting can also be folded away at the foot-end if you want to create an open hammock. Beneath you, a strong, yet flexible bed, manufactured from 100% mosquito-proof fabric, holds you comfortably in its cocoon. This fabric is also breathable, reducing the amount of potential condensation. Attached to the bottom of every Clark hammock are up to six pockets which are designed to hold boots and other gear. Above you, an ample, sil-nylon rain fly protects the entire hammock from rain, mud, or snow. The rain fly can be tied out like a canopy or folded down around you for extra protection.

The Rope

You can trust Clark rope to be supremely strong, easy to untie, and water-repellent. Each Clark hammock boasts a durable polypropylene rope that has a specific gravity of .91, the lightest rope for its strength in the world. The breaking strength is a remarkable 1200 to 1710 lbs. (depending on the model)
When your Clark hammock arrives, you may be tempted to discount the value of the rope because of its unique, slippery feel. You should know that Clark has worked tirelessly to find a rope with this precise slickness which helps you untie your knot after it's tightened during the night. Clark rope also has extraordinarily little stretch which means that when you wake up in the morning, the hammock will be in the same position as it was the night before and feel just as comfortable.

How Clark rope keeps you dry: The challenge of staying dry is different for camping hammocks than it is for conventional tents. After all, a hammock introduces two support ropes that are exposed to moisture. Most rope acts like a sponge, pulling in moisture and draining it down toward your hammock bed. Clark hammocks have met this challenge by providing a rope that simply will not wick. In fact, because of a special manufacturing process, Clark rope absolutely hates water. If any water did chance to run down the rope, it would meet the knot where the rope connects the hammock and drip away harmlessly.

Built-in Stuff Bag

Every Clark Jungle Hammock is equipped with a built-in stuff bag. This feature allows you to easily pack away your hammock in a compact bundle without it ever touching the ground. The stuff bag is conveniently sewn inside one of the large pockets under the hammock.

The Fabric

Clark hammocks are made with at least three types of high-quality fabric. The mosquito netting is a fabric called No-See-Um in the tent industry. Most No-See-Um is made of polyester, but our netting is made of nylon. Nylon netting allows more stretch, and therefore will take more abuse than other fabrics. The part of the hammock you lie in is made of the strongest material, a heavy nylon weave. We have weight tested this fabric and found it will hold more than 300 lbs. per linear inch. This means that a 10 inch piece of fabric will hold more than 3000 lbs. The ropes are attached directly to this heavy nylon base. This fabric is breathable but highly water repellent. The waterproof rain fly is made of a durable, lightweight sil-nylon.
